Specific aims

In order to achieve the supreme objective of the meNet project, namely the improvement and increase of the quality of music education as part of school curricula, the following strategies are planned:

• Dissemination of information on commonalities and differences in the theory and practice of music education for schools in Europe
• Stimulus of further development of cultural education in the countries of Europe and of lifelong learning
• Creation of a European communication and knowledge management network for music education
• Information and ideas for changes to school curricula
• Information and ideas for changes to the content of training courses for music teachers
• Development of practical methods and tools for the development of curricula, such as the description of characteristics and learning outcomes for the first and second study cycles of training courses for music teachers at college or university with the aim of increasing the compatibility of the training of music teachers at European level and so improving the chances that such studies and qualifications are recognized
• Information and ideas to encourage participation in SOKRATES projects in the field of general music education
• Laying the foundations for sustainable cooperation between the project partners (continuation of the network)
• Laying the foundations for cooperation between the project partners and associations at regional, national and international level (in this context especially EAS, AEC) and other networks, particularly in the context of SOKRATES
